Prompted by a health scare and the removal of his special interest  cryptozoology class, professor Jeremy Fishleder goes on sabbatical, acquires a van from a fellow Fortean investigator stocked with maps and materials, and plans a road trip to various areas of strange repute.  Three students decide to join him and, as they seek out mysteries in the wilds of earth or steel, together they discover more about themselves and one another.
